Meetings and conferences
Three rooms, one kitchen, and a car park that holds sixty. Fifteen minutes from the city and far enough up the hill that nobody wanders off at lunchtime.
The three rooms
Capacities below are the numbers we will actually seat, not the numbers the floor plan allows.

120 seated at rounds, 160 standing, 140 theatre, 60 cabaret. A timber floor out of the old mill shed, a door wide enough for a piano, and blackout that works. Divides into two with an acoustic wall. |

Fourteen around one table. A screen on the wall, a camera and microphone that were bought together and therefore work together, and a window that opens on to the hill. |
All three have Wi-Fi that holds a video call for the whole room, power at floor level rather than trailed across it, and a whiteboard that is cleaned between bookings. The building has one loading door at ground level and a lift that takes a pallet trolley.
Day delegate, from NZ$76 a head
Minimum twelve people. What is in it:
- Room hire from 8am to 5pm, set to your plan the evening before
- Morning and afternoon tea, with something baked downstairs that morning
- A working lunch — two hot dishes, a salad, bread, fruit. Not sandwiches
- Still and sparkling water on the tables, replaced through the day
- Projector, screen, flip chart, pads and pens
- Parking for every delegate
Add dinner in The Milling Room from NZ$62 for two courses, or a room at the delegate rate, which in Low season is NZ$185 a night including breakfast.
From the first enquiry to the day itself

| 3. Agreement | One page, with the deposit, the release dates and the minimum numbers in plain figures. |
| 4. Final numbers | Five working days out. Below that we charge what we bought. |
| 5. The day | One person from our side runs it, and you have their mobile number from the moment the agreement is signed. |
What else the rooms are used for
Conferences of up to 140 for a day, board meetings, training weeks, product launches, funerals and the gatherings after them, birthdays, and about forty weddings a year. The same team runs all of it, which is why the answer to a strange request is usually yes.
What we will not do: a room hired for gambling of any kind. The Rimu Room is the only room in this building where gaming happens, it is licensed for it, and nothing moves out of it into an event room for a private party.
The Rimu Room is restricted to guests and visitors aged 20 and over. Photo identification is checked at the door on every visit, under the Gambling Act 2003. Delegates and event guests of any age are welcome everywhere else in the hotel. Nothing on this website can be played or wagered online.
